The Official School of Languages of Girona was inaugurated in September 1983 on the initiative of the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya. It is a public  modern language teaching centre that teaches specialised education and is regulated by the Organic Law on Education (LOE).

The Official Schools of Languages are public centres for language learning for adults. The purpose of the language teachings taught there is the development of:

– the ability of students to use the language effectively as a vehicle for general communication
– recognition and respect for linguistic and cultural diversity as a tool for dialogue between peoples

At EOI Girona you can study 8 languages: German, English, Arabic, Catalan, Spanish for foreigners, French, Italian and Russian.

The EOI Girona also manages the public delegated centers of Santa Coloma de Farners and Palafrugell.

CERTIFICATES

Official language schools also manage the academic certifications corresponding to these specialised courses. These certifications are recognized throughout Spain. They are the only official ones and are validated by the Council of Europe through the European Framework of Reference.

When the final objectives of the second year are achieved, the certificate of the basic level A2 is obtained.

Intermediate level certificates B1, intermediate B2, advanced C1 and advanced C2 of the EOI can be obtained both as official and external candidates. They are nationally and internationally valid.

ERASMUS AND INNOVATION

The EOI Girona participates in European projects and is recognized as an Erasmus Centre. It has received the recognition of the Department of Education of pedagogical innovation.
