It is followed by Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent &#8211; a Christian fast &#8211; so a custom has arisen of making pancakes to use up foods traditionally given up for Lent.<\/p>\n<h2>What&#8217;s the best pancake mixture recipe?<\/h2>\n<p>There are numerous ways to make pancakes \u2013 after all, the day originates from using up what is left in your cupboard.<\/p>\n<p>While you may be fan of thicker, American style pancakes, or thin French type crepes, this traditional English pancake recipe is bound to win you over \u2013 and it\u2019s super easy too.<\/p>\n<h3>You will need:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>125g of plain flour<\/li>\n<li>2 eggs, medium sized<\/li>\n<li>300ml of milk<\/li>\n<li>Pinch of salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Method<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Beat the eggs together with a fork<\/li>\n<li>Pour the flour into a bowl and make a well in the middle<\/li>\n<li>Pour the eggs into the well and whisk together<\/li>\n<li>Gradually, add in the milk<\/li>\n<li>Put the mixture in the fridge for at least 30 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Rub oil around a non-stick pan<\/li>\n<li>Ladle out your mixture \u2013 one ladle equals one pancake<\/li>\n<li>After a couple of minutes,
